Bail and Release in East Honolulu Cases
Bail in East Honolulu arrest cases follows the First Circuit Court schedule. Some offenses carry set bail that can be posted at OCCC without a court hearing. Others require a bail hearing before a judge. The hearing usually happens within 48 hours of booking, not counting weekends or holidays.
Bail can be posted by cash, cashier's check, or through a licensed bail bondsman. Payment at OCCC happens in the facility lobby. Release from OCCC can take several hours after bail is posted, depending on staffing and case volume.
For felony cases, the court may set higher bail or order no bail. The East Honolulu arrestee's prior record, the nature of the charge, and flight risk all play into that decision. A defense attorney can request a bail reduction hearing.
